1kg Food Grade Calcium Hydroxide (Slaked Lime)

Elevate Your Water Chemistry. Perfect Your Mash. Water is the primary ingredient in your beer, and dialing in your water chemistry is the secret to brewing award-winning batches. Our Premium Food-Grade Calcium Hydroxide (commonly known as Slaked Lime or Pickling Lime) is an essential brewing salt for advanced homebrewers looking to take total control over their mash pH and mineral profile.

Why Use Calcium Hydroxide in Your Brew?

• Raises Mash pH: Brewing dark beers like Stouts and Porters? Highly roasted malts can drop your mash pH too low, leading to astringent flavors and poor enzyme activity. Slaked Lime is the most efficient way to raise your mash pH back into the ideal 5.2 - 5.6 range.
• Adds Calcium Without Sulfates or Chlorides: Unlike Gypsum (Calcium Sulfate) or Calcium Chloride, Slaked Lime allows you to add vital calcium to your brewing water without altering your sulfate-to-chloride ratio.
• Promotes Yeast Health & Clarity: The added calcium boosts yeast vitality, improves flocculation, and helps precipitate proteins during the boil for a crystal-clear finished beer.

Product Features:

• 100% Food Grade: Pure, safe, and packaged specifically for culinary and brewing applications.
• Highly Soluble: Dissolves easily in your strike water or directly into the mash.
• Resealable Packaging: Comes in an airtight, moisture-proof bag to maintain freshness and prevent clumping.

How to Use: Because Calcium Hydroxide is highly effective, a little goes a long way. We highly recommend using a reputable brewing water calculator (such as Bru'n Water) to determine the exact dosage for your specific grain bill and source water.

⚠️ Handling & Safety: Calcium Hydroxide is a strong alkaline powder. Please handle with care. Avoid breathing in the dust, and keep it away from your eyes and skin. We recommend using a dust mask and gloves when measuring and mixing.
