Potassium Bitartrate ( Cream of Tartar) 1kg

Ensure your finished wine is crystal clear and professional with our Premium Potassium Bitartrate. While commonly known as a baking ingredient, in the world of winemaking, this is the essential tool for Cold Stabilization.

Every winemaker fears "Wine Diamonds"—those glass-like tartrate crystals that form in the bottom of a bottle when a customer chills their wine. By using our Potassium Bitartrate for "seeding," you can force these crystals to drop out before bottling, ensuring a sediment-free, stable product.

Why Winemakers Need This:

• ❄️ Cold Stabilization (Seeding): Adding this powder during the cold crash process acts as "seed crystals." It attracts excess tartaric acid and potassium in the wine, causing them to bind together and precipitate out rapidly.
• 🍷 Professional Finish: Prevents unsightly crystals from forming in the bottle later, which can be mistaken by consumers for glass or sediment.
• 📉 Reduces Chilling Time: "Contact seeding" significantly speeds up the stabilization process, saving you energy and tank time.
• ✅ High Purity: 100% Food Grade (USP/FCC), safe for all winemaking and baking applications.

How to Use (For Cold Stabilization):

1. Chill the Wine: Lower the temperature of your wine (ideally to between -2°C and 4°C).
2. Add the "Seed": Add 2g to 5g per Litre of Potassium Bitartrate to the chilled wine.
3. Agitate: Stir gently to keep the crystals in suspension for the first few hours.
4. Wait: Allow the wine to sit cold for a period (usually a few days to a week). The added powder will trigger the unstable tartrates to crystallize and fall to the bottom.
5. Rack: Rack the clear, stabilized wine off the sediment while it is still cold.

Other Uses:

• Baking: Stabilizes egg whites for meringues and prevents sugar crystallization in syrups.
• Acidity Adjustment: Can be used to make minor adjustments to pH and acidity in specific chemical environments.

Technical Specifications:

• Chemical Name: Potassium Bitartrate / Potassium Acid Tartrate
• Grade: Food Grade (FCC/USP)
• Appearance: Fine White Crystalline Powder
• Solubility: Low solubility in cold water (which is why it works for precipitation!).
