Potassium Metabisulfite (PMS) 1kg

Protect your hard work and ensure the perfect batch every time with our Premium Potassium Metabisulfite (PMS). An absolute essential for any serious homebrewer or winemaker, PMS is a highly effective, dual-purpose brewing staple. Whether you need to sterilize your equipment before a brew day or protect your wine from oxidation and wild yeast during aging, our fast-dissolving, food-grade PMS has you covered.

Key Features & Benefits:

• Ultimate Equipment Sanitiser: When mixed with water (and ideally a pinch of citric acid), it creates a potent sulfur dioxide gas that thoroughly sanitizes demijohns, kegs, bottles, and hoses.
• Powerful Antioxidant & Preservative: Prevents oxidation and browning in wines and ciders, keeping your colors bright and your flavors fresh for long-term aging.
• Controls Wild Yeast & Bacteria: Perfect for adding to fresh fruit must before pitching your chosen yeast to knock out any competitive wild microbes.
• Campden Tablet Alternative: Offers the exact same active ingredient as Campden tablets but in a versatile, easy-to-measure powder form that dissolves instantly.
• 100% Food Grade: Safe for all winemaking, brewing, and cider-making applications.

Typical Usage Guidelines:

• For Sanitizing Equipment: Dissolve 2 tablespoons of PMS in 1 Gallon (approx. 4 Litres) of water. Rinse your equipment with the solution and let it drip dry. (Pro Tip: Do not rinse with fresh water afterward to maintain a sterile environment).
• For Wine Must Preparation: Use ¼ teaspoon per 5 Gallons (approx. 19 Litres) of must. Wait 24 hours before pitching your yeast.
• For Wine Stabilizing (Before Bottling): Use ¼ teaspoon per 5 Gallons to protect the wine from oxidizing in the bottle.
